Many years ago, as a way to reduce the stresses of an impossible job, I took a quilt class and then a basket class. It became clear to me that these opportunities to be creative and to express myself were invaluable in helping me to feel good about life in general. Some years later after a second career in management, I began to dream of making a living at something I love... making quilts, baskets and knitting, and creating opportunities for others to find an outlet for self expression.

From that dream, Quiltessentials was born in June of 1994. Quiltessentials is a very homey, warm place where people can shop, take classes, get advice, ideas and enthusiastic support. In January of 2001, we moved to our very own location at 909 Minot Avenue, an early 1900's farmhouse with a large barn. We added yarn and knitting supplies to our offerings in April of 2001, and look forward to continuing to fill our new location with products that will delight our customers.
